Quad cores means true multi-tasking and multi-threading. Tasks or threads get their own core; no more sharing one core and set of clock cycles. This lets you turn your system into the ultimate home entertainment center PC. One core handles the usual action on your operating system, while the second can play a DVD on the TV, the third download a file from internet, and the fourth one sends audio to the kids in another room with no lags or stutters. All this is made easier with Intel’s advanced Digital Media Boost.
Where to Buy
The 45nm Intel Core 2 Quad processor is armed with Intel HD Boost, which implementing new Intel Streaming SIMD Extension 4.1 (Intel SSE4.1) instructions for fast high definition video editing and encoding, enhance the multimedia performance.
Not Bad

Pros: Good speed, good price
Cons: Locked multiplier (8x)
overclock runs quite a bit hotter then the e7200 ~10c even with after market cooler. kept me from pushing it past 3.0ghz
Other Thoughts: I was a little surprised with the temp, with my e7200 i was able to push it's 2.53 to ~3.6 so when the q8400 jumped up to ~70 @ 3.25 i was a little worried. But i'll prob fool around with it again to get it's full potential
Q8400 @ 3.00GHz
Asus P5Q Deluxe
4Gig OCZ Reaper X @1000Mhz
Sapphire ATI Radeon 4870
Awesome CPU

Pros: Very fast! I have built numerous systems for customers using the Core 2 Quad line and Core i7 (1366 and 1156) and with this same chip overclocked to 3.2 ghz, this thing compares to the Core i5 750 and i7 920 for a fraction of the cost!
Cons: my only thing thats annoying to understabd really is the way UPS decides what goes where and when. I guess you get what you pay for LOL (which I didnt, so my bad on myself really....FREE SHIPPING) DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR, pay for the FedEx shipping. Ever watch Ace Ventura when he is posing as the UPS delivery driver? LoL!! My Antec case I received today looked like it was kicked down a few halls to be honest. The box on the side was caved in and had a huge hole in the side. Makes me wonder what they are doing to my other package they decided to hold from me.
Other Thoughts: GoGoGo pay for the FedEx shipping if you want a more safer way for your products to ship!!!
Nice processor

Pros: I purchased this paired with Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L MB. I also own an AMD Phenom 9950 (quad core 2.66 GHz) and this is notably faster for demanding applications. Benchmarking puts it near the i5 750 for about $50 less (unless you are wanting some of the i5 specific features).
This build is for my parents so I didn't overclock, but I am positive that it would have been a breeze. On a stock clooler in a case without great airflow idle temps were just around 30 C. Paired with a better case (airflow wise) and aftermarket cooler, I am confident that this thing could easily clock past the 3 GHz mark.
Cons: For ~$20 more you can get a Phenom II 965 that would definitely outperform this along with many of the other similarly priced Intel processors. If I were building myself a gaming rig on a similar budge this is the route I may have taken.
